Need more info : Need more information as to why you want to know. The answer depends on that, and I'm not quite sure if you mean "interpret" rather than "compute." For what reason did you have the test done? Remember, in regards to tests, numbers are just numbers - the context in which they exist is where the importance lies. Testing for amyloidosis. Two 24-hr urine protein labs both showed protein 6.3mg/dl. 1st test was 140mg/24hrs from volume of 2225ml of pee. 2nd test was 129.2mg/24hrs from 2050ml pee. Both in range, but if peed more would have been over limit. Worry?
No worries please.: The test results take into account the concentration of protein in the urine, not just the amount. If you had consumed more fluids and made more urine, the total amount of protein would be the same even tho there was more urine. Example: if you have a cup of salt water and add more water to it, the water will be less salty but the total amount of salt will stay the same. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Im doing the 24 hr urine creatitine total protein test and a few blood test to check my liver and kindeys...I know the doctor suspects preeclampsia..But does it mean I for sure have it? Just because im doing test or is that why im doing them?
Proceed with caution: The tests you mention are a way to look for the early warning signs of a condition that is potentially deadly for you& baby. Preeclampsia(pe) can progress without obvious symptoms you would feel, so looking at the tests is a cautious way of preparing to act if specialized rx is needed. Many are tested that won't progress to pe & sometimes the tests are repeated over several days when needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have henoch schonlein purpura & I'm going to get a 24 hr urine test for protein on Sunday. If i drink alcohol on friday will it show up on the test?
No: 24 hour urine collection for protein excretion will quantify how much protein you are spilling in the urine, it will not mention anything about alcohol, unless your doctor specifically orders that test.
