See your doctor: Problems like these can only be correctly handled by your doctor in person. He/she needs to listen to you, perform an examination and possibly run labs or other tests. That's the only way he/she can find out what's going on and what to do about it. ...Read more

Possible nerve: Irritation. Sometimes if a nerve is getting mildly irritated in a certain area, such as the peroneal nerve around the fibular head, you can have some heat like feeling transiently. Have you noticed any change in the way you walk prior to the burning? Any unusual pressure around areas prior to the burning? Where is the arthritis? If it is in the ankle, the inflammation can irritate small nerves too. ...Read more

Chronic Pain: It can be difficult to treat chronic pain arising from two locations. A partial tear of the medial meniscus in the knee is most often treated conservatively. I presume you were active or athletic. A uterine leiomyoma or fibroid is a benign tumor that can be painful with enlargement and when they multiply requiring embolization or myomectomy. I had a blockage in my leg 10 years ago, now im getting leg cramps alot.Should i be concerned? I was told I have periphreal arterry desease.

Peripheral : Peripheral arterial disease results from deposition of cholesterol and calcium usually in the arteries of the abdomen and legs and can be a marker for more generalized disease affecting all of the arteries in the body - including the arteries on the heart and arteries going to the brain. Since you have had problems before with blockage in your leg, this has been going on for some time. A recurrence of cramps in your leg or legs, particularly if they come on with activity and fade with rest, likely indicates a new or recurrent blockage. A complete medical evaluation - history and physical exam - would be important. A vascular surgeon will likely be the best person to evaluate the circulation to your legs. Sometimes medical doctors - non-surgeons - specialize in care of patients with vascular disease. These doctors are often called angiologists. ...Read more

I need a opinion i had knee surgery 1 year ago for plica resection I am still having a lot of pain what could it be? Was told no arthrtis

Plica pain: Residual pain following knee surgery can be multifactorial: one of the more common issues would be a different source for the pain. This could include a radicular component from the lower back (herniated disc), hip arthritis, a more involved systemic condition that can affect the knee synovium such as an autoimmune condition or low grade infection such as lyme. A thorough work up is in order. ...Read more

I am 25, I was told I have labral tear & facing impending articular failure. I've have a hip scope 2 yrs ago for this, what is next step? It hurts bad

See a hip specialist: I'm sorry about your situation. Obviously, it's time to a hip specialist, either the one that did your surgery or a new one if you prefer a 2nd opinion. It's difficult to give you specific advice without knowing your full situation and without reviewing updated x-rays and an MRI arthrogram. At times, a second arthroscopy can relieve pain. Platelet rich plasma injections can be a nonsurgical option. ...Read more

After seeing a physiotherapist i was told that my knee pain is caused by weak glutes. Is this severe and how long should I take off running?

Knee pain in runners: Knee pain in a runner can be due to a myriad of different things. I invariably see weak gluteus medius and hip abductor muscles in runners, especially distance runners. While it is probably not the only direct cause, it is probably contributing to your pain and needs strengthening. You should continue to follow up with pt and no run until you can do so pain free. ...Read more

I was a runner as a teen and notice that now running causes me hip and knee pain i never had before. Why is this and what can I do?

Weekend warrior: The most obvious answer is -- you are out of shape. You are still young, but not as young as you used to be. You may need to start slow and build up miles gradually. Also, stretch after warming up and after. With hip and knee (especially the outside/lateral part of knee) pain you may have a tight iliotibial band (itb). Google stretches for that. Good luck. ...Read more

I started having knee pain and they crack all the time. My dr said I have fluid in my knees caused from being a woman and we have wider hips. Really?

No: Not sure what your doctor said, but what he/she probably meant is that kneecap (patella) pain is very common in young women given the angle that their quadricep muscle makes given relatively wider hips. This angle tends to pull the kneecap out to the side and that can cause pain. Simple knee stretching and exercises should help. ...Read more
