Your diet should be less than 30% ot daily calorie from total fat. 7% from saturated fat and less than 1% from trans fats and less than 300 mg of cholesterol. A target of 15-30 gm monosaturated fats. Avoid butter, margarine, hydrogenated oil, lard and palm oil.

Yes and no


In men and women, resistance training combined with a healthy diet will build muscles....more in men than women but it works for both. Stronger muscles tend to burn more calories than weaker muscles even when you are not using them...that helps reduce fat. Lifting with proper form to the point of momentary failure plus a good diet seems to be the best way to get the muscles to respond.

I will recommend


you to get a lipid panel and check triglycerides, total Cholesterol, HDL AND LDL Cholesterol. Also, balance your diet more with more proteins, complex carbohydrates, vegetables and less unsaturated fats. Being skinny do not always translate into being healthy. I will avoid saturated fats at all.

Congratulations on attempting to lose weight! The problem with diets is that they are sometimes unsustainable. If you are eating 1300 calories per day and are not hungry this is a sign that you were maybe overeating before. The best solution is to make long term lifestyle changes. Losing a pound a day may be too much, a more realistic goal is 2-4 lbs per week.

How to loose weight


First, you want a balanced diet, and that means at least 56 grams of protein for a man, not 1.5gm! Second, assuming you've done the easy adjustments and removed the bad carbs like soda, juice and sugar, weight loss is about calories in vs. out. To loose 1 lb per week you need to cut back 500 calories per day from what you normally eat. Max target for healthy weight loss is 2lbs (7,000 cal less/wk)

20 grams of protein per day is not enough. That is only 10% of your total calories on a 2,000 calorie diet. I recommend you aim for a 40-30-30 percent of carbs, protein, and good fats.
