My 19 months old son has mucus in his stools. in december 2013 he was diagnosed mith colitis and clostridium difficile there is no blood seen.
Your question?: I don't know what your question is, but you need to take your son to your pediatrician promptly for further evaluation. C. diff has a nasty way of recurring and just because "no blood is seen" doesn't mean there's no blood in his stool. I certainly hope the mucus isn't a sign of something serious, but you need to find out for certain. Best wishes. ...Read more

Have it checked: You are very young so the possibility of cancer is low. Had colonoscopy in 2002, was fine. Had one recently, microscopic blood in stool, can you get coloncancer within 10 yrs? 64 yr old female.

"interval colon cancers" are defined as presenting relatively soon after a negative colonoscopy exam. This phenomenon is well-defined & well-recognized in the medical literature, distinct from missed or regrowing lesions, & accepted as inevitable despite current screening strategies. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

More tests: Diarrhea usually goes away on its own within 48 hours without medication. Persistent diarrhea for 2 weeks is considered chronic. The elevated white count is indicative of a bacterial infection. If one stool culture was negative, it should be repeated. Maybe it's time to consult a GI or infectious disease specialist to investigate all possibilities. ...Read more
