Couple of causes: There are a couple of causes for white spots on the tongue. A common one at that age would be bite marks from his incisors. At 21 months, he is old to have thrush, unless he was recently on an antibiotic. Some viral infections may cause similar lesions. The american academy of pediatrics recommends calling your dr if your baby is older than 6 months w a temp of 103 or higher with sxs like coughing, earaches, fussiness, vomiting, diarrhea, no appetite or marked lethargy. Possible "thrush": On the surface, it sounds like thrush, a yeast infection in the mouth.Yeast lives normally on body surfaces but multiplies in warm, moist areas.
