2 Month Old Eating Habits
My 6 1/2 mo old ped. Felt his anterior fontanel but says that it might be closing early than usual. Should i be worried? Or is this normal @ his age?
Follow closely..: It is a bit early for the skull to fuse, but unless he has had a head MRI or ct to assess exactly how open or closed they are, i would not panic. If his head shape is normal and symmetric, if head size is increasing along appropriate percentiles, development is normal, then i would put my mind at ease. However, these parameters, including head size and shape, need to be monitored monthly for now. ...Read more
Diagnoses for craniosyntosis or positional on my 2 month old. I've had two dr tell me one of each. How can I tell which my son has?
Depends: In most, a simple exam will show ridging of the sutures if synostosis and not if not. Some get x-rays to boost their there accuracy but the specialists at the craniofacial center in Dallas consider it a waste of time. They label based on exam and proceed with more specific studies if needed. Sounds like you need a 3rd opinion. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 2-month old is spitting up after every feeding for the past two days. Do I need to be concerned?
Depends: Most babies spit up, a process called reflux. This tends to increase from birth to peak about 4 months and declines significantly as they learn to sit up.If the amount is minimal and the kid is thriving otherwise (normal diaper count, vigorous at feeds and play) you can just watch it. If the kid appears tired, feedings fall off, or baby develops a lot of fussiness, have it checked out ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is it normal for my 2 month old breast fed baby to poop for a few days then not for a day or two on a consistant basis?
Yes: As long as stools are soft/mushy/liquidy when the baby does poop, the pattern you describe is perfectly normal. Some babies are just so efficient at digesting their mom's milk that they may not make a lot of waste product (poop), so don't stool as often. Many breast fed babies give little runny skid marks with each feed. Consistency of the poop matters, not frequency. ...Read more
My 3 1/2 month old is eating formula 4-5x daily with 5 ounces during each feeding. Is he getting enough formula? He weighs about 12 lbs.
My 2 month old son eats 4-5oz of formula every 2 hours during the day. When should he start eating more or how long should be keep eating this amount?
Depends on age & wt: Most infants will tend to increase their intake over the first few weeks and then level off between 28-35 oz/ 24 hours until they weigh about 15 pounds, and then additional intake is needed. For most babies, this is usually around 4-6 months, so solids are added then. Some 2 month old infants will take 7 oz x 5 bottles a day, others 4 oz x 8/ day. If your baby is happy and growing, no worry. ...Read more
2 1/2 month old someways sleeps all day and barely eats next day up all day and eating all day! why? Do i wake her she sleep from 10pm til 7am
Don't wake the baby!: If a 2-3 month old baby is happy and growing well (confirmed by measurements at the 2 week, 1 month, and 2 month check-ups), then there is no need to worry about how much the baby is eating (because it is obviously enough), or which hours the baby sleeps. The old saying, "don't wake a sleeping baby", is true for healthy, happy babies this age and older, especially at night. ...Read more

2 1/2 month old someways sleeps all day and barely eats next day up all day and eating all day! why? Low sugar? Diabetic? Scared!
Get an evaluation.: With young infants, it's very important to document that they are growing and gaining. I always feel that one of the best indicators of how a baby or child is doing is how they act. If an infant is very lethargic (like a dishrag) - or very irritable, they need to be checked. It is scary sometimes with a baby who can't talk to you yet! get some help and reassurance from your baby's doctor. ...Read more
