2 Month Old Baby Poop Color
What are some reasons for an infant to have mucousy stool? He's 3 1/2 months old and i've only noticed it once so far, but its making me nervous!
Allergy or normal: If the baby is feeding well and there is no blood in the stool or unusual vomiting or other signs of illness, then it may be normal to have a mucousy stool from time to time. However, mucus may be a sign of allergy to a component of infant formula, or in some cases something in mom's milk. If this happens rarely, probably not a big concern. If frequent, consider discussing with pediatrician. ...Read more
Try a little juice: A lot of babies, especially formula fed ones, experience constipation at some point. They are unable to valsava and therefore may just have trouble pushing out the stool. At 2 months old, i would rcommend trying a little prune juice for your baby's constipation. I would dilute the prune juice with half water. 2-4 oz per day should suffice. ...Read more
My 2 month old baby had a poops diaper with streaks of red blood. He is breastfed, and mom has noticed an oversupply. Anything to worry about?
Yes: Visible blood in a baby's stool is a cause for concern. Sometimes, they can feed from a mother's cracked or bleeding nipples but swallowed maternal blood should be digested. Visible blood is a sign of lower intestinal or anal/rectal bleeding and should be evaluated by a qualified professional right away. ...Read more
Dark green loose poop since 2 days for 2 month old baby. She is under nan 1 baby formula from birth since I have less breast milk. Is it ok?
Bile: The greenish color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change to yellowish or brown. It is normal as is the loose consistency. Some digested material will take on a darker tint than others & the germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd ignore the whole issue. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 2 month old baby is having watery stool with lots of farts and sour smell. Since sunday morning but only 3 big stools and lots of smear kind.
Infant diarrhea: It sounds like your infant may have gastroenteritis, an intestinal infection. Most cases are viral, but, if there is blood in the stool, this could indicate either a bacterial infection or a milk protein allergy. Continued watery stools can quickly lead to dehydration in infants. You should definitely have the baby seen by the pediatrician as soon as possible. ...Read more
2 month old baby experiencing hard tube like stool (with fussiness). Is on milk base formula. Is offering about 2 oz daily of water+brown sugar ok?
Constipation is: defined in infants 2 months old & older who have 3 symptoms: firm, dry pebbly stools, no bowel movement for 2-3 days in a formula fed baby & straining/crying while having a bowel movement or taking > 10 minutes to pass a stool. If these criteria are met & baby is over 2 months, give 1 oz./day of apple or pear juice, 1st diluted to ¼ strength with cooled boiled water, then ½ strength, if needed. ...Read more
Multiple: Some depends on whether the baby is breast fed or bottle fed but most babies stool 1 to 7or 8 times per day. Some can even skip several days> most important is the consistency not the frequency. Babies should have soft to watery stools not hard little balls of stool. ...Read more
1 month old, formula feed infant has dark green poop that smells like skunk (sometimes stringy looking)...baby is gassy as well. Is this normal?
Could be: The first thing I would want to make sure is that your child is gaining weight appropriately and thriving. If that is the case, there are numerous things that could be of help, such as different formulas. That decision can be best made with your child's doctor who will know what formula your child is and/or has been on. Good luck. ...Read more

My 2 month old weighs 14lbs 9oz what is the right amount of infant tylenol (acetaminophen) i can give him in ml?
Al little young: While infant tylenol (acetaminophen) is not recommended by the manufacturer until 2 years of age it is used and if so the dose in millilitres for the weight you have given is a total of 9 ml in divided doses over 24 hours. That is a very conservative dose so check with the child's pediatrician. Tylenol (acetaminophen) should always be based on weight and not age in children. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Rarely: Congestion is a normal response of the airway to inhaled dust, fumes, dry heat, pollen, etc. As well as infection. Airway mucous traps debris particles and works to remove them.
