Possibilities: Hi. While gestational diabetes is most likely type 2, I've seen many type 1s diagnosed during a pregnancy. Have your OB check type 1 autoantibodies. If positive, you have type 1. Jump on control (either an endocrinologist or HROB who's comfortable with type 1). Type 2 GDM usually isn't losing weight. Good luck! ...Read more

Hard to tell: It can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result if done correctly. One can test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period.
