14 Year Old Girl Target Heart Rate
I am a 14 year old girl that does a lot of long distance running. Is a resting heart rate of 42-48 bpm too slow?
When I exercise, my heart rate goes between 160-175bpm. Is this too high for a 37 year old woman? Target heart rate calc says 146 maximum.
Depends: A formula widely accepted is 220-age=maximum heart rate. Keep in mind though that this is a simplistic formula with age as the only variable and standard deviation for this equation is 10 to 15 bpm. It is a range: Resting hr should be around 60-100 range, could be slower during sleep. With activities hr can go up much higher, to about 180-190 range, but not sustainable at this rate for long. Nothing: When people ask me about what their target hr should be when working out, i tell them that the workout intensity is more important than heart rate. So if you feel like you are overdoing it, are exhausted and feeling sick after your workout, and your hr was less than target, it was too much. Decrease intensity.
