Preg dates iffy yolk sac no heartbeat 1st u/s. 6 d later small fetal pole no hb. Bhcg rising >28k. Blighted ovum w fetalpole present? Any suggestions?
Trust: Your doctor. I am sure you are very anxious, but these questions always involve some waiting to see what happens. If you do not trust your doctor's advice for any reason, then 1) talk honestly with him/her about it, and 2) if necessary see another doctor. ...Read more

I am 6 weeks and 1 day and my beta is 4556.00 they seen the sac and the yolk but no fetal pole. Is this a possible Blighted oviam?
Too early to know: Traditionally the level of hormone above which we should be able to reliably detect an embryo in the uterus is quoted as 3600 -6000 (depending on which study you read). So it is quite probable that this is still a normal pregnancy. You will have to wait a few days and get another scan to be sure. The wait can be agonising! I wish you well. ...Read more
Had my first u/s today measured 6 weeks...The tech only saw a gestatbional sac. No yolk or fetal pole. Said everything looked ok. I'm still worried???
Repeat US in 1 week: It's not uncommon for a US at 6 weeks to show only a gestational sac. It's possibly that the fetal pole is lagging and it just needs a little more time. Be patient. There is not much you can do but think positive. Getting a measurement of the gestational sac size can be helpful as well for us to guide expectations. ...Read more
Hi my LMP was on 14th June 2014. I had slight bleeding on 11th and 12th july. My scan (tvs) sac:6.5mm, yolk:2.3mm and no fetal pole. Is that normal?
Patience is Key: It is best to repeat the ultrasound in 1 week to look for fetal pole. It I best to wait till 7 weeks before making any decisions. Ovulation day may change. You are only about 6 weeks now. I am not sure when you did the ultrasound. You can also do HCG levels 48 hours apart. So, please just wait. Good Luck! ...Read more

I am 5weeks and 1day, did an ultrasound and they couldn't find the yolk sac or fetal pole. Is this a problem?
6wks, spotting a week, elongated sac not round on US, looked full of blood (no yolk visible) fetal pole no heartbeat but right size. Any chance?
Do you know the actual measurements? There is a guideline that can be used called the 5-10-20 Rule for Crown Rump Lengths and Gestational Sacs
> if you have 5mm CRL you should see heart beat, this should be by/at 6 weeks
>if you have 10mm GS, you should see a yolk sac, if not then nonviable
>if you have 20mm GS, you should see a fetal pole, if not then nonviable. Again these just guidelines. ...Read more
Hcg 5-5: 181 hcg 5-7: 413 conceived no earlier than 4-17. U/s 5-15: 5mm gest. Sac, no yolk or fetal pole. Repeat in 1 week. Normal & early or worry?
6w5d had a u/s that showed a sac yolk sac but no fetal pole or hb my hcg levels are normal and rising, is this normal?
Can just seeing the gestational sac and yolk sac and no fetal pole or heartbeat normal at 6 weeks and 2 days?
Is it normal to not see the fetal pole at 6w2d in a vaginal ultrasound? There's a healthy yolk sac but we wouldn't find the baby.
Fetal pole: 6 weeks is then pivotal point. Usually we do see a pole at 6 weeks but there isn't one seen, a repeat u/s in 1 weeks would certainly solve the question. It's a horrible emotional place to be but 1 more week will solve it most likely. ...Read more
Hcg keeps doubling like it should had u/s says I'm 5wks 2days but only saw gest sac no yolk or fetal pole isn't that norm? Dr swears it's ovum? Help
Could be fine: Early pregnancy ultrasounds at 5 weeks can sometimes show only a gestational sac and no fetal pole. When women are in the situation with HCG levels that are doubling every 2-3 days there is a good chance that everything is fine. I will sometimes have a woman get another ultrasound in 5-7 days to see if the gestational sac is larger. ...Read more
Around 5 wks preg. On Jan. 6 hCG was 13, 200 & Jan 8 it was 23, 000. Had iu US on 8th. Yolk sac visible, but no fetal pole. Hcg too high for +outcome?
Too early to know...: At 5 weeks, you may only be able to see the yoke sac. This doesn't mean something is wrong. You don't always see a heart-beat until 6.5 to 7 weeks. Remember that 5 weeks is only 3 weeks from conception. Its very early. I wouldn't worry at this point. You might consider repeating the scan at 7 or 8 weeks. Best wishes! ...Read more
1st vag. Scan I was 5w1d No fetal pole only yolk sac. 5 days later Vag scan measures me 5w5d. Still only yolk sac seen. I Had IUI and should be 7w2d??
The only thing: To do is be patient and follow the ultrasound during the coming 1-2 weeks. This situation could go either way, but should give you a clear answer very soon - good luck in the meantime. ...Read more
Sac seen, msd-13mm -6weeks but my LMP is 8weeks 2 days--no yolk sac seen-fetal pole not visualized at the time of scan. Sac partially separated 8*5mm?
Dates off?: May be off on dates, don't see fetal pole until sac at least 18 mm on transvaginal scan. It may work out and your just not where you thought or the pregnancy may not be viable low probality but a pregnancy in the tube can create a pseudo-sac but you would likely be in pain. If non viable your chances of having a normal preg. Next time are not lower; go to the follow up, sorry, tough situation. ...Read more
Hcg 16, 900 5wks6dy from lmp but ultrasound measures 5wks1dy. Saw Sac and yolk but no fetal pole. Should I be worried?
6wks1day us showed 2mm fetal pole no yolk sac no heartbeat. No bleeding Hcg number went from2, 165-3, 054 6days. Nurse said 99.9% I miscarry. Thoughts?
My thoughts: As of a serum HCG of 2000 a pregnancy in the uterus should be detected. If there is an embryo of a measurable size, the heartbeat should be seen. If the serum HCG concentration is considerably less than double the amount it was two days prior, the pregnancy in all likelihood is not viable and likely to end in a miscarriage. ...Read more
4 weeks preg. Was told I have a saclike structure within fundal endometrium w/o a fetal pole or yolk sac. Is this normal?
Yes: It is too early to see a yolk sac or a fetal pole. Repeat your ultrasound in 2 weeks. If you are bleeding then you can do blood HCG every 48 hours and see if it is increasing adequately. ...Read more
Is it normal to have no fetal pole at 5 weeks and 4 days, only gestational sac & yolk, hCG 8000 and have tripled in the last few days.

I had an ultersound done 1/22/2014 there was a gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole. I"m 8 weeks 2 days. Do I need to have a D&C?
Maybe: By 8 weeks 2 days you expect to see a heart beat on ultrasound. It is possible that you are not as far along as you think or that this is a blighted ovum/missed miscarriage. To be sure you can check quantitaive HCG's and look for the appropriate doubling or do a repeat ultrasound in 1 week. Remember that this sort of thing is not because of something you did or didn't do. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Prog level 19 (down from 31 at week 4) and 58000 hCG at 7w. Yolk sac and fetal pole found on u/s, no heartbeat. Sac measures just under 6w. Viable?
Early pregnancy: Early pregnancy can be a confusing time. That your Progesterone fell is not a good sign. Nor is the u/s finding of a fetal pole and yolk sac, but no fetal heart beat. Sac size doesn't really help. I would be cautious and repeat the ultrasound in one week's time. If there is still no fetal heart beat, it isn't a viable pregnancy. ...Read more
Yolk sac but no fetal pole/embryo. Supposed to be 6 w 3 d b/c I had an IUI but I'm measuring 5 w 1 d. Whythe discrepancy in dates? Where is baby!?
Too early to tell: Presumably you had the IUI when you were ovulating. If that was the case, I would expect the USN to show a 6W3day embryo, so the size difference is of some concern. But sometimes people ovulate later and so it makes sense to recheck the USN in one week to see if there is growth/ heartbeat. The fact that there is a yolk sac is great news. ...Read more
