Overweight
Develop life style changes that lead to better health & weight regulation rather than focus on weight loss itself. Improve food choices, get better sleep, stick to an enjoyable exercise/activity program, drink more water. The key is to take in less calories & burn more calories. Foods high in nutrients will satisfy us with less volume.

I have been going to the gym for 12 weeks now. I'm circuit training, watching what I eat, and breastfeeding. No weight loss...any idea why?

If you are truly strength training: observing good technique, using muscles in full range of movement, exercising muscles to exhaustion, and increasing resistance accordingly, them you should be seeing a change in your body proportions. You should be experiencing an increase in you energy level and noticing a change in the way your clothes fit. These are more important than "weight loss."

The ER is not the place in which to begin a diagnostic evaluation for a 3 week illness that your doctor is uncertain about. If the doctor is not continuing an investigation to find the cause of these disturbing symptoms then perhaps they can refer to someone more specialized for further assessment. You need a diagnostician, not an ER doctor who will simply refer you on.

As much as possible

The best results are when you are as lean as possible. If you are going for it again make sure that you find a surgeon that performs complicated redo hernias.

Many factors determine the rate of weight loss.. What was your starting BMI, the higher the starting BMI usually the more rapid the weight loss. Are you eating enough? It sounds counter-intuitive but eating not enough can actually slow weight loss. Also, mini plateaus of a few weeks where you continue to lose inches but the number on the scale doesn't move are very common. Talk to your surgeon..
