Same thing, 14 weeks: if your pregnancy is dated correctly from your last menstrual period, and if the ultrasound is also interpreted correctly they will both say 14 weeks. You do not adjust the ultrasound for the 2 "extra" weeks from the last menstrual period. ...Read more

Pretty good, but…: I would not decorate the nursery just yet. If well visualized, the gender of the baby can be accurately determined. However, 12 weeks is early. The baby is quite small. The word probably: Says it all. 12 weeks is quite early, and the doctor's use of the word probably means it is better than 50-50 but nowhere near 90% likely. Fetal anatomy screening ultrasound at 18 to 21 weeks would provide a better opportunity to confirm the baby's gender. ...Read more

Baby girl born yesterday 6pound and 12 inch head circumference. Is her head fine I was told during pregnancy that she might have microcephaly?
Head measures small: Her weight is right around the 5th percentile for a newborn but her head is well below the 3rd percentile. Clinically, at this stage of pregnancy, it is practically unnecessary to frequently repeat ultrasound imaging since there would be nothing that needs or could be done. Yes: A 1.2 cm endometrium at your age and after a cycle is upper limits of normal but it is normal. More important is the reason for the ultrasound. If it was for abnormal bleeding and the only abnormality is the endometrium than more needs to be done to evaluate the problem. ...Read more

Within normal range: Both of these measurements are within the normal range and by themselves are not notable.Measurements of head circumference at this age is inconsistent from one observer to another. Head growth is better followed with serial measurements, done with the same technique and monitored over time.
