11 Weeks Pregnant Identical Twin Girls Ultrasound
With a normal pregnancy, all ultrasounds including ones in the 1st trimester showed LMP 10/15/12. Could conception have occurred after 11/7/12?
Pregnancy sono: If the ultrasounds were done in the first trimester and all confirm the 10/15/12 lmp, then there is little chance that conception occurred after 11/7/12. The first trimester ultrasound is usually sensitive to +/- 3 days. ...Read more
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more
When 1st trimester ultrasounds date pregnancy how do they base the gestational age? Do they assume conception occured on cd14?
US: First trimester ultrasound is based on biometric measurements only, the embryonic crown-rump length, which is extremely reliable when done by a skilled sonographer. No assumptiosn need be made at all. The ega is however reported correctly, by convention, from the first day of a hypotehtical last menstrual period; so in that regard it 'assumes' conception on cd 14. ...Read more
Hi, 11 weeks pregnant with dichorionic twins, my 2nd twin is near right cornual region, adj. Myometrial thickness 3.9mm, is it a serious condition?
Possibly.: Typically the pregnancy grows in the path of least resistance - i.e. Inside the uterus. Most likely everything will be fine; if you or your obstetrician are concerned about this, an MRI should help put everyone's mind at ease by imaging the entire pelvis and uterus in detail. Best of luck! ...Read more
If at 11 weeks pregnant doc can't get fetal heartbeat should they do a sonogram. Have history of miscarriage?
I am 11 weeks pregnant, I am having stomach pain and cramping, is that normal? I have only been to a sonogram tech, I have not seen a ob/gyn yet.
How late can you detect a heartbeat from twin pregnancy with transvaginal ultra sound? If demise of one twin will other twin have issues?
Twin is high risk..: Generally, embryonic cardiac activity is seen between 5 and 6 menstrual weeks of pregnancy - single or twins or triplets. If both fetuses share a single placenta (monochorionic, monoamniotic placentation), and if one is demised, the other will likely have problems. A main concern is the effects of twin-twin transfusion. ...Read more
I Hope Not!: Twins at 7 weeks should be fairly clearly visible on a transvaginal sono. As far as whether or not they might be identical, that is a more difficult question to answer by sono and requires careful analysis of the membranes surrounding fetuses, unless there is a single sac which would only be seen in an identical twins (rare). They can also be in 2 sacs however. ...Read more
I had an ultrasound at 5wk 4day both my husband and mom saw 2 yolk sacs. Why didn't the ultrasound tech tell me or my doctor call about identical twin?
Fiance found out she was pregnant on feb 12. The drs first said she was 11 weeks pregnant. They took ultrasound, said she is 8 wks. No h/b. Miscarriage?
Fetal Demise: It surely sounds like a fetal demise. But, please remember we are strangers on the internet with no connection to her reports or scans. It is unfair to ask us this question without sharing what the doctor's caring for your fiancé have told you both. ...Read more
I am 11 weeks pregnant according the LMP. Had ultrasound yesterday, baby is measuring 11w5d, the sac measures 10w5d. Why the difference?
Ultrasound estimates: Ultrasound measurements are simply estimates of gestation age based upon norms of plus or minus two weeks. This is also true of gestational sac measurements of gestational age. Technology (ultrasounds) is marvelous for augmenting other parameters of gestational age, but are not "pinpoint gospels of truth". ...Read more
In july at 11 weeks pregnant i began spotting an ultrasound at the time revealed our baby had died and measured about 6 weeks with the sac measuring 10 ?
Missed abortion: Basically the fetus "died" at 6 weeks and your body did not expel. This is quite common. Almost 1 in 6 pregnancies end this way and it is mostly due to abnormalities. ...Read more
It depends: It depends on what was measured and when. Very early, the sac diameter is accurate to ±5 to 7 days. Later, a measurement called the 'Crown-Rump-Length' at 7 to 10 weeks of gestation is the accurate to ±3 days. After 10 weeks, the accuracy of the CRL falls slightly with a margin of error of ±5 days at 10 to 14 weeks. ...Read more
I did an ultrasound on the 23th August 2016 and found out I am 11 weeks pregnant I would like to know when exactly I conceived?
Nobody knows that: Women who conceive naturally NEVER know exactly when they conceived. It's good that in normal everyday life, there is no need to know with exactness. A close guess is between a few hours to a day after ovulation but nobody knows exactly when she ovulates, meaning a woman does not know exactly when her egg pops out of her ovary. If 11 weeks by a scan, conception was 9 weeks ago (plus or minus 1wk). ...Read more
I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. Had ultrasound the tech told me to use my lmp. Not giving me a actual date. Am i actually 9 weeks?
Don't know : A pregnancy due date can be calculated from your last period. A sonogram can be used to confirm that date or confirm that that date is wrong. The sonogram can overrule or agree with that last menstrual period. For your specific situation you have to ask your doctor which date you're going to use. ...Read more
I'm 11 weeks pregnant. Ultrasound found a subchorionic bleed about 0.5 cm. Could it be getting bigger? can constipation worsen it? Please help!
See below...: Subchorionic bleeding usually goes away with time but occasionally can get bigger and result in a miscarriage. Constipation probably won't make it worse but if you are constipated, stool softeners such as "Colace," or "Docusate Sodium," available over the counter, are safe in pregnancy. Best wishes! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes: While the diagnosis may be suspected, it can only be confirmed by close examination of the placentas or genetic testing before/after delivery. Usually with early ultrasounds, we can be pretty sure about identical or monozygotic twins. It means that during very early embryo development, one embryo split into two. ...Read more

What is the accuracy of an abdominal ultrasound at 7 weeks? Is it greater than the standard of +/- a wk for 1st trimester since preformed abdominally?
11 weeks pregnant. Ultrasound showed baby measures perfect, heartbeat and limb movement. What are the chances of miscarriage from here onwards?
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
