Would make an appoin: Virus are very common this time a year. Prolonged viruses or colds sometimes can turn into something more serious. With symptoms for two weeks, I would recommend that your child be seen in the office. Nighttime coughing could be due to post nasal drip or sinusitis (esp if there is fever). Nebulized treatments and/ or antibiotics may be needed esp if there is a history of reactive airway disease. ...Read more

11 month old continues to cough after RSV has cleared. Teething or something RSV related? Sometimes she coughs so much she throws up.

Common: Infants who have RSV bronchiolitis will often cough intermittently for at least a month after the primary infection. They will also cough more with irritant exposures to dust/fragrance/smoke/etc. For the next year they can wheeze on occasion with minor colds. As long as baby is eating and playful it is likely okay. If the kid starts refusing feeds or to play they deserve a followup exam. ...Read more

11 month old fever of 102.5, very runny nose, and slight cough, also not sleeping well. Should I take him to see a doctor or can I treat this at home?

Depends: Fever in an 11mo can be triggered by a number of problems. A 102.5 is not much different than a 103 or 101 in predicting the need for a visit. Fever slows germ reproduction. If your child takes fluids well enough to wet diapers every 6hrs & has happy moments, home care is ok for now. Declining fluid intake, increasing passivity or fussing, or that mommy button going off in your head, get it checked. ...Read more
