Ask your MD first.: Start Paxil (paroxetine) 20 mg and stop Zoloft. Wait 2 weeks. If you need higher dose go up to 30. There are differences in 5HT receptor activity. Also differ with histamine, Dopamine and Noradrenergic activity. Take the Paxil (paroxetine) in the morning as it tends to be "activating" Watch for allergy (as you would with any new med) also watch for serotonergic syndrome (muscle stiffness, elevated BP, HR, temp, confusion) ...Read more
I take Zoloft (sertraline) and Fluanxol from a week. 100 mg Zoloft (sertraline) and 1 mg Fluanxol and I get convulsions. Is this sth to worry about?
Contact doctor ASAP: Zoloft, (sertraline) an antidepressant, and Fluanxol, an antipsychotic, can both potentially lower the seizure threshold in susceptible patients. It appears you are also on Tobramycin, an antibiotic. Altogether, the combination may make you more prone to untoward side effects. Recommend you notify your doctor at once. All the best. ...Read more
Are 50 mg 2x a day of Zoloft (sertraline) and 20 mg of ritalin 3x a day a safe combination? So a total of 100 mg Zoloft (sertraline) + 60 mg ritalin a day. Safe ?
Unclear: Nothing is certain in medicine. You are young and i presume otherwise healthy so it is probably ok. However, i would make sure the diagnoses are correct! have a good battery of psychological testing and perhaps neurologic testing to confirm adhd. Check geisinger or temple or u of penn or jefferson or univ of pitt. Or john hopkins. Ekg should be done. Most importantly are they helping? Any side eff. ...Read more
I was on 20 mg of lexapro (escitalopram) for 2 years and just quit cold turkey Friday, can I switch to 100 mg Zoloft right away?
Transition: Everyone responds differently to going off ssris, and some people are fine with one and not with another. Both of the meds you are talking about selectively inhibit serotonin, so in essence, you are doing the same thing with one medication as the other, so you are really not going off anything cold turkey. Your doctor who prescribed it should know what is appropriate for you. ...Read more

Went from 50 to 100 mg Zoloft (sertraline) 2 weeks ago. Dropped klonopin from .5 to .25 on thursday. Now i can't sleep &have more anxiety. Is it from Zoloft (sertraline) or klono?
Talk to your doctor: That is the challenge with two simultaneous dosage changes. My intuition leads me to believe that it could be the Clonazepam reduction however increases in antidepressants are also known to promote insomnia in the context of a promotion of a manic state. In my experience sertraline is more sedating and so it would be unusual for it to interfere with sleep but not unheard of. Talk with your md. ...Read more
How easy to taper off or wean off 100 mg Zoloft (sertraline) /day after 6 weeks of usage? What protocol to use?
Taper off slowly: My best advice for you is to check with your doctor because he or she knows your condition. Best. But you should be able to taper your med to 50 mg a day for 2 weeks, then take every other day for 2 more weeks to see if you are ready to get off med. Since there is no dependency with zoloft (sertraline). Again chectk with your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
