How often should one replace their orthotics and also what is a good link or literature about proper running technique? Heel / toe strike w/Low arch
Orthotics/Running: Barbara, I prefer with plastic based orthotic devices a 10 year replacement. Also, check out videos on Chi Running. It is very very similar to what we teach our runners. Usually 4-6 weeks: If your orchiopexy involved an inguinal (groin) incision, then minimal 4 and closer to 6 weeks would be standard waiting period before resuming normal physical and recreational activities to allow adequate healing. If just a scrotal incision, then 3-4 weeks more likely. It is always best to check with your surgeon who is most familiar with the specifics of your problem and follow his advice. ...Read more

I purchased a peak flow meter to monitor my breathing before and after I exercise because I been having some coughing after running. Is it normal to have a reading of 350 at rest. What should I look for when exercising?
Prob. EIA: You almost surely have something called exercise induced asthma. You are 22. Your peak flow rate should be higher but make sure someone is watching you do it. You may be doing it incorrectly. If you indeed have EIA you can take albuterol inhaler just before running and it should stop the coughing and SOB. See your doc and learn about asthma and its management!! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
