Color changes in : Infants' stools as the intestine becomes colonized with new bacteriae, until they become "adult" brown. See pediatrician for green liquid stools, especially with fever, mucus can be benign, from swallowed saliva or mucus if he has a cold. Yes but: You may want to look for signs baby is ready to wean. If baby makes short work of feedings, & or you begin chasing baby around to do a feed, you s/he may be ready. If baby still craves the nurturing & lingers, i see no reason you can't overlap the babies. I would avoid abruptly stopping baby 1 when #2 comes as there will already be some displacement fear. Gum?: It's not uncommon for stools to undergo changes, from mustard, to "pudding" to thick peanut butter. I'm not sure what you mean by "gum", but stools can thicken up somewhat over this time. Other causes: A four month old does not have bowel control where he is afraid to poop. You dont mention it, but if you are breast feeding an infant can go as long as a week without pooping and is within the realm of normality.
