What can I give my 10 month old baby if she's throwing up constantly but has no fever?

What can I give my 10 month old baby if she's throwing up constantly but has no fever?

Give clear liquids: If baby is otherwise fine, responsive, playful then you can try stopping all feelings of milk and solids and give only clear fluids in small amounts frequently; to see if the child will stop vomiting. If baby appears ill then the child should be seen by a pediatrician to determine the cause and do appropriate testing. Medications probably shd not be started till examination is done. ...Read more

My 6 wk infant has had runny seedy green poos since weaning him onto formulae. No fever or blood and isn't vomiting. Would it be safe to try soy?

Normal poop: While it is certainly fine to try soy formula, what you are describing is perfectly normal poop for a 6 week old. Their stools are very runny and seedy, and colors range from yellow to green to brown to orange. The colors we don't like are white, red and black. These sound like very healthy, normal poops, so I don't think a formula change is even needed. ...Read more

My 19 month old has been throwing up, no fever, for 3 hours every 20 minutes. About 1/2 cup each time. Should I take him to urgent care?

Yes.: Yes, dehydration can occur very quickly. Depending on the cause for vomiting, your son could get very sick. Take him to an emergency department where they will have the ability to give him IV fluids - sounds like he'll need it. Take note of # of wet diapers, amount of fluids he's had over last couple of days, etc. Good luck. ...Read more

My infant is five months has a dry cough for a week and has a runny stuffy nose no fever should I take him to doctor is it a cold?

Cough: It is always hard to know when to take your baby to the doctor. If he is eating, drinking, pooping, peeing and acting otherwise well and having no fever then I would say no. If he has any trouble breathing, the cough becomes worse, he gets a fever, he becomes lethargic, dehydrated or you are just too worried then get him seen. Worried Mommas are always right. ...Read more

My infant boy has picked up an ugly cough. How can I treat it? He's 23w (19 corrected) 2nd vaccines done 2 days ago. No fever or vomitting

Treatment varies: There are no cold and cough treatments for infants. All of the over the counter medications have no effect and can be harmful to your baby. First have your baby examined at his Doctor to make sure that he does not have any signs of infection. If symptoms are viral then normal saline for the nose and humidified air can be helpful. If you are breastfeeding that is the best medicine. ...Read more

Needs eval: Reddish lump in an infant could be a vascular swelling or abormality sometimes. It can also be bruising due to trauma. Is pear juice ok for a 10 month old baby with a fever?

Is pear juice ok for a 10 month old baby with a fever?

Pear juice can be OK: Any real fruit juice or puree should be ok with or without a fever. The main issues to consider: 1-too much sugar can lead to diarrhea if not eating regular food too, 2-kids might replace more nutritious food w juice, 3-if you are worried about dehydration, it is important to include a salt source with the sugar. My 10 month old baby who has recently moved from usa is having fever since last 4 days upto102'f. Doctor has advised CBC test. Do I need to worry?

Hopefully not.: Fever in a child less than one year old is always a concern, which is why your doctor is trying to make sure it is nothing more serious than a virus. Your doctor is acting very responsibly and appropriately so that they can detect bacterial infection and treat it early if it occurs. If the test is normal your baby should get better soon. Give them lots of liquid and love. ...Read more

My 8 month old baby vomited this morning? Can I continue to breastfeed? What should I do? He has no fever but does have a cold.

My 8 month old baby vomited this morning? Can I continue to breastfeed? What should I do? He has no fever but does have a cold.

Pediatrician: An 8 month old is still, in essence, an immunosuppressed host. If there are changes in feeding habits, alertness, sleep patterns, behavior and so on, it is always best to have the baby assessed by a professional. This is probably benign, but because even if rare things are missed in this young a baby they can become very severe very quickly. Better safe than sorry. ...Read more

Recently we've been having hfmd going around and I might think my 1 month old baby caught it but has no fever. Is it ok to use calamine on the blisters?

No calamine!: Poor baby! I would not put calamine directly on hand-foot-mouth blisters. It won't help and might possibly exacerbate the burning pain. If the lips are. Getting very dry, just a dab of plain petroleum jelly is all I would use. Hope baby is better soon! Thanks for trusting Healthtap! ...Read more

4 month old baby with green poop and diarrhoea but no fever, dehydration or distress. GP said to monitor for a month. Shall I worry?
