10 Month Old Baby Sleep Schedule
10 month old baby congested from common cold. Won't sleep on flat surface n no swing. Is it safe to use carseat for 1 night next to couch?
It does have risks.: The academy of pediatrics recommends a flat surface to prevent sudden infant death syndrome (sids). A more important aspect of helping the child sleep would be nasal saline drops and suction 2 or 3 times per day, but not more frequently than this. Certainly children can sleep in a car seat for prolonged periods without issue, but there is a higher chance of sids which must be considered. ...Read more

My 10 month old baby has very thick toenails, like you'd see with arterial disease. He's had this since birth; what could cause this in an infant?
See Your Doctor: Your 10 mos old has "very thick toenails since birth". Congenital anomalies of the nails, hair, skin, teeth can be caused by a group of genetic defects called Ectodermal Dysplasias, of which there are numerous types. Involved body parts can be poorly developed or absent. Nails can be thick, misshapen or rough but usually cause no problems. See your doctor for diagnosis, genetic history, & therapy. ...Read more
A lot: There are several phases of sleep and one of the most important levels for maximum rest and renovation is delta phase. This is the deepest level of sleep in which hgh (human growth hormone) is released and in children provides one of the most potented hormones that naturally helps the body to grow and develop. This is why infants require so much sleep. ...Read more

See below: Per fda recs, no otc meds for kids under 4 year old let alone under 1 year of age! My infant 9 m old head most of the time sweats while sleeping in night. Is it normal? What r the possible reasons
Sweaty infant: Many babies are over bundled due to fear of the child getting cold. This can cause overheating and increase the risk of SIDS. Your infant should wear the same amount of clothes as you. Monitor baby carefully for blue and cold fingers and toes. Don't use too many blankets. Here's a good hand-out: http://www. Nih. Gov/news/health/nov2010/nichd-02.htm (If that doesn't solve it, see your pediatrician). ...Read more
My babe (infant) she is 25 days old have heart defect she is sweating when she is sleeping, what is the reasons and the treatments, thanks?
Accident/purposeful: Infants may flip occasionally from birth and fully roll with a purpose by 4 months. It has been found that side sleeping is just as risky as belly sleeping with relation to crib death. Always put them down to sleep on theit back, and re-position them if they roll to the side until at least 4 months. ...Read more
Homeopathy and drops: Most doctors advise antibiotics for ear infections but research shows while they may relieve pain a bit sooner there is greater chance of recurrence. An old home remedy is crushing some garlic, warming it in olive oil and putting a few drops of the warm oil in her ear. My favorite treatment is homeopathy. Many mainstream pharmacies carry hyland's infant earache drops. See comment for more info:. ...Read more
No, not normal: Bad body odors in infancy is not "normal". Is there just odor, or is there any type of associated rash or redness? Does the odor smell sweet, musty, rotten, or any other particular description? . If no rash, I'd start with using an antibacterial soap diluted in water and wash well twice daily. If ANY redness or whitish discharge present, I'd be suspicious for yeast and have that checked out by doc. ...Read more

Breathing treatments: True bronchitis is very rare in infants. It is more likely that there is a viral respiratory tract infection triggering air tube spasm that causes symptoms and may be an early sign of developing asthma. Breathing treatments can help make the diagnosis (if there is improvement) as well as making the baby feel better. ...Read more

Hi, my 10 month old baby has Freys syndrome as a result of a forceps delivery. Drs here in the UK know little about it. Will it clear up?
Some question: Whether babies have true Frey Syndrome because they have transient flushing for 1-2 minutes, but not sweating, between the edge of the mouth & the ear when eating. However, in most countries, babies don't eat spicy, tangy or sour foods. In babies, it is usually harmless, requires no treatment & goes away on its own in time. See: www. Ncbi. Nlm. Nih. 10 month old baby has small bumps with small red surrounding dime sized that disappear within about 30 min to 1h and reappear in varying areas?
Variable rash: That sounds like it could be hives, which are usually allergic but can sometimes be related to a viral infection. Most rashes don't move around like that. If they are itchy, you might consider Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to help (if baby is ~ 20 lbs, would be 4ml of standard US benadryl) but if not bothersome, no need to treat. If rash is bothersome, always best to have a provider have a look. ...Read more
