No: Generally, once an infant starts to sleep through the night (around 2 months) it is not necessary to wake the baby up to feed him/her, assuming the baby feeds well during the day, is wetting several diapers a day, appears healthy, and is growing well. Depends on why: Self-feeding depends on fine motor & oral-motor skills & typically starts at 9 mos. Can she grasp objects with the palm of her hand (4 mos.), get her hands to her mouth (5-6 mos.) "scissor" grasp with thumb and forefinger(7-8 mos.) or pincer grasp (10-12 mos.)? Does she swallow foods other than liquids & hold/play with a spoon? 10 month old having cough, cold and fever(37.3-37.5) for 3 days is fussy during feeding times. How can i feed him.
Clear liquids: Make sure to give him lots of clear fluids (water, Pedialyte) to keep him hydrated. You can give it with a bottle, cup or even spoon, if necessary. Don't worry too much if he isn't eating well- the important thing is the fluids. That will help with the fever and loosen his mucous as well. Use bulb and saline drops to suction his nose. Call the doctor if he's not better. ...Read more
The question is: Whether it's medical or behavioral. Have a consistent bedtime ; routine: read, rock, feed, brush his teeth, then put him in his crib in his own room drowsy, but awake, without bottle or pacifier, to self-calm to sleep. He'll learn to settle back to sleep when he night wakes. If the pediatrician says he's healthy, ignore the night crying. www.AAP.Org has tips on how to do this in a graded fashion. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Parent must do it.: Good oral care starts day one. For infants, wiping all oral surfaces with a washcloth and water twice daily after feedings does the job. For toddlers, get a very soft small toothbrush and brush all oral surfaces gently. You don't have to use toothpaste, but if you want to use it, put only a tiny dot on the brush;we don't want him eating toothpaste! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Intussection seen 10 months ago on ultrasound for 10 year old son. Ct scan done. Now crying himself to sleep past 10 days..Should i take him back toer?
Yes but: You may want to look for signs baby is ready to wean. If baby makes short work of feedings, & or you begin chasing baby around to do a feed, you s/he may be ready. If baby still craves the nurturing & lingers, i see no reason you can't overlap the babies. I would avoid abruptly stopping baby 1 when #2 comes as there will already be some displacement fear. Good luck. ...Read more
Overall the opinion: is No you do not need to be taking Hair vitamins while you are lactating, though any harmful effects on the baby is not immediately known. It IS known that any vitamins you take while breastfeeding WILL be transferred to the baby, especially the fat soluble ones (ADEK). Most women grow hair faster while they are pregnant or lactating anyway as part of the natural effects of progesterone. ...Read more

10 month old baby congested from common cold. Won't sleep on flat surface n no swing. Is it safe to use carseat for 1 night next to couch?
It does have risks.: The academy of pediatrics recommends a flat surface to prevent sudden infant death syndrome (sids). A more important aspect of helping the child sleep would be nasal saline drops and suction 2 or 3 times per day, but not more frequently than this. Certainly children can sleep in a car seat for prolonged periods without issue, but there is a higher chance of sids which must be considered. ...Read more
