It wouldn't take much fluid from a Cold Sore on the Band -Aid to infect her, because she touched the mucous membranes in her mouth with her contaminated finger. Children between 6 months & 5 years can have herpetic gingivo-stomatitis with the primary infection. That is inflammation & ulcerations of her mouth & gums. See photo. My 4th year old baby always his thumb in his mouth. I try but he not leaving his habit. Please give the solution.?

Distraction: Try not to focus on the behavior but when you notice it occurring try to distract him with activities. Placing a non toxic product such as Tabasco sauce on his thumb may discourage thumb sucking. He is old enough for a reward system as well. All the best with this. Some adults still thumb suck. What his doctor: Means is that it could be a form of self-stimulation, especially if he looks at his hand from an odd angle while doing so. Does he point with his index finger for desired objects, raise his arms to be picked up, respond consistently to his name, wave " bye" back when someone waves at him, mimic pat-a-cake & peek-a-boo?
