Observation: If the bleeding is not frequent and can be stopped within a few minutes with pinching nose and holding head back, it may just be a result of dryness, allergic changes, or avid nose picking! If you are concerned, see your Pediatrician before running to the ENT doc, answers are usually simpler than you imagine, if bleeding continues or child looks pale, go to the ER or urgent care for more help ...Read more
My 2.5 year old fell down some wood stairs. No one witnessed it. He has a bump on forehead and nose bleed. Sleepy too but it is his bedtime. Worry?
Head Injury: You do need to be vigilant tonight. Once 24 hours have passed without any worsening then you can breathe a bit easier. If your child is not throwing up and can be aroused from sleep a couple of times tonight then things will be fine. If he begins to vomit this is an emergency. ...Read more

They often awake with a bloody pillow after rubbing their nose into it during sleep and having a bleed. Nasal saline wash or jells and humidified air help reduce the frequency. Humidity : Not sure where u live. Dry weather is the most common cause of bleeding nose apart from nose picking which can lead to bleeding. If this is true, use a humidifier at night in her bedroom. My 6 year old just had a nose bleed for no reason and quite a lot of bright red blood she has a hole in her hear and di george? Should I go hospital
Did it stop?: Kids get nosebleeds all the time. It always looks like a lot of blood because the nasal passages are very vascular. Dry air makes the superficial vessels more likely to bleed. No reason to go to hospital for this if bleeding stopped regardless of digeorge. If she has symptoms of low calcium that would be a reason to go to the hospital, though shouldn't cause nose bleed. ...Read more

I haven't had a nose bleed in over 6 years and I randomly just had one, is this normal or a concern?? Thanks
Not a major one: Nosebleeds are common and usually provoked by dryness, allergen or irritant exposure, or physical injury to the nose. While a more serious cause would be unusual, developing new recurrent nosebleeds (not just one!) with no clear cause is a reason to be seen by a doctor. Your doctor would start by looking in the nose and may consider basic lab work based upon findings and described history. ...Read more

Common problem: The skin lining the inside of the nose has many fragile capillaries that can break and leak with trauma. Irritants like dust, fragrances, smoke, eyc. Phils/stop smoking: We have to have a different consideration for people with some hemoptysis. About 70% of people in the philippines have +ppd so that has to be a consideration. Ask your doctor for antihistamine and nasal spray and work up others. ...Read more

What to do if I have had migraines for years now, i just had my first nose bleed ever! What is going on?
May not be related: Many severe or constant headaches (HA) are called 'migraines' but may be another type of HA. To sort this out, I suggest a visit to a doctor who does osteopathic diagnosis & manipulation, prolotherapy or neuroprolotherapy. It's possible to sort out the real cause of HA with precise history & hands-on physical exam. Nosebleed could have several causes incl simply dry nasal membranes. Exam may clarify. ...Read more

Need more info: The majority of nosebleeds do not require work-up or intervention.
