1 Year Old Crying In Sleep
1 year old sin doesn't sleep at night, never has. He fusses all night & wakes up at least 4x tossing and turning. Has never slept 1 full night. Help?
Sleep: Develop a bedtime routine - bath, story or song, then bed at the same time every night in his own bed. His last nap of the day should end no later than 3:30 or 4pm. Babies that age are naturally restless sleepers, it is ok for him to toss and turn but he need to learn to go back to sleep on his own. If he wakes up, check on him but don't pick him up. He will cry, cough, gag, etc. Dont give in! ...Read more

?head Cold/Viral: If it is like a head cold, tylenol (acetaminophen) may be all that he needs. But watch out for any signs of meningitis which would cause headache, drowsiness/lethargy and can make a child ill very quickly. In that case you need to be prepared to take him to an er or to your peditrician(i hope he has a pediatric doctor to help/guide you). Tylenol (acetaminophen) can be repeated every 6 hourly and will keep fever down and comfort. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Hard to tell...: "jumping in his sleep" usually means a child moves around a lot in his sleep. That happens in many kids, but can happen more often if he had a rough day (got poked a few times). "since he had his 1 year old shots" doesn't say how long after the shots (1 day, 1 month, 1 year, etc.), so it is hard to tell if anything is related to getting poked. If related, maybe the legs are sore or he is dreaming. ...Read more
Baby crying: I don't think you have anything to worry about. Some babies cry more than others and this is normal. Sometimes it's the parent who is actually more rattled than the child. Remain calm. Remember babies can cry for multiple reasons. More patience and experience will guide you. To be safe bring this up with your pediatrician at the next visit. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
It's not typical: Most babies at this age, especially if they're eating solids 3 times a day, do not wake up this frequently at night. It could be that she wants the comfort of being held (and fed) when she wakes up, and not that she's truly hungry. Most babies this age are ready for night weaning, so you could try to wean 1 feed at a time. If she wakes up (for the mid feed) try to comfort her w/o feeding. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
