My husband just elbowed my 1 year old in the face. Hard. He turned really fast. My son started crying but then went back to sleep. Is he okay??
Almost certainly: Children cry for lots of reasons. The fact that your child cried right away implies that he didn't lose consciousness. If he has no purplish discoloration over the course of the next few hours then I wouldn't worry. If when he awakens he is really irritable and you can't calm him down I would have him see his doc. ...Read more

It's hard to tell what a rash might be without seeing it. It could be dry skin, an irritation from something, a virus, insect bites, all sorts of things. See your child's doctor.
If at all possible, it might be a good time to help him learn to sleep in his own bed. The longer you wait, it may be more difficult to change his habits. ...Read more

My one year old baby never sleep well. Iam fed up with him. He is go to sleep very difficult and wake up during the night 6 or 8 time until morning.
Routine: Help him by having a routine - same time each night, quieting the house, limiting exposure to TV, possibly a bath and a bedtime story. Set up the expectation that sleep is what happens at that time. When your baby wakes, check in, but try not to pick him up. Keep the room darkened and quiet. Walk away. You need to sleep to be a good mother. He needs to quiet himself - not easy at first. ...Read more

My one year old used to sleep through the night mostly. Recently, waking up at 3am and will not go back to sleep unless fed. Normal? Growth spurt?
If you haven't: Already done so, take him/her to his/her pediatrician to make sure that nothing physical is wrong (ear infection/teething). If you've done that already, then it would be important to not have him/her continue this habit. A one year old should be able to eat enough during the day and not need to eat in the middle of the night. So hopefully, this is just temporary, & could be a growth spurt. ...Read more

There: There are many, many things that could make a child cry; from teething, to ear infections, to stomach cramps, to just being tired. The list is endless! The best thing to do is take her to her doctor for a complete history and examination. You are correct in being concerned about a change in behavior in your usually happy baby. In preparation for your visit, try to keep track of when she has these crying spells, how long they last, and how she is doing otherwise (eating, playing, pooping, sleeping ok?). This may help your child's doctor narrow down the causes and hopefully find a solution. Good luck! ...Read more

? twitchy airways: Another fancy name for asthma-like symptoms, can be related to reflux, sinusitis, or viral infections, or other causes. You may want to perform some reflux precautions: raising the head of the bed 30 degrees, thicken her formula with cereal if she is still on it. More important is to see her doctor, as she might need some inhaled bronchodilators to help her at night and probably other Rx meds too, ...Read more
My one year old got checked out for ear infection. She's been on antibiotic for 5 days. Still crying a lot. What should I do now?
One year old daughter crying for breast feed in night. Eats mild solids well. Not drinking bottle milk. Expects me always around her, else she cries?
Possible teething: She may be crying at night for another reason. At a year of age she is conceivably teething thereby giving her pain. Try giving her Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) at bedtime and see if that soothes her. If you want to stop the night time feeds another thing you can try, is to let her cry it out. Go to her when wakes up, sooth her but don't pick her up. After 3-4 nights and you'll get your rest. ...Read more
Baby crying: I don't think you have anything to worry about. Some babies cry more than others and this is normal. Sometimes it's the parent who is actually more rattled than the child. Remain calm. Remember babies can cry for multiple reasons. More patience and experience will guide you. To be safe bring this up with your pediatrician at the next visit. ...Read more
Comfort: The average is 40-50 or so, but many kids its about 20+ and beginning to string two words together. However, as important is COMPREHENSION of speech. So much so that newer studies suggest kids who speak a little slower BUT understand and follow directions well, likely will catch up just fine by 5-6 years old. There is a spectrum of normal. If slower, check with your Pediatrician. ...Read more
Hard to tell...: "jumping in his sleep" usually means a child moves around a lot in his sleep. That happens in many kids, but can happen more often if he had a rough day (got poked a few times). "since he had his 1 year old shots" doesn't say how long after the shots (1 day, 1 month, 1 year, etc.), so it is hard to tell if anything is related to getting poked. If related, maybe the legs are sore or he is dreaming. ...Read more
My 1 year old sleep between 12 am to about 11 am and he still drinks milk from bottle before sleep and at 4 am and agian at 8 am is this ok?
A few things...: By the age of 1 yr children should be off the bottle completely. They should be able to go all night without requiring a nighttime feed. Your child should be good with normal daytime meals and perhaps a cup of milk before bed. I encourage parents to establish good bedtime routines. Bedtime around 8pm, sleep for a good 10 hrs. ...Read more

Sleep: Develop a bedtime routine - bath, story or song, then bed at the same time every night in his own bed. His last nap of the day should end no later than 3:30 or 4pm. Babies that age are naturally restless sleepers, it is ok for him to toss and turn but he need to learn to go back to sleep on his own. If he wakes up, check on him but don't pick him up. He will cry, cough, gag, etc. Don't give in! ...Read more
