What is constipation: In a one month breast fed baby no poop for a few days is normal as long as the poop in not hard. Babies in the first month or so have frequents pooh so this change to less frequent pooh causes much worry but is normal regardless on apparent straining. Are you sure?: Many parents think their breast fed baby is constipated because they no longer stool every day somewhere between 2 weeks and 1 month. This is because the body is now efficiently using that breast milk. As long as the stool your baby does have is soft, and your baby isn't in pain, your baby is not constipated and you should not worry. Breast fed babies can go days without stooling! No: the problem is probably temporary. would first try a glycerin suppository to see if this will give him relief. if not effective would also consider 1 oz of water per day changing formulas may be necessary but would check with your pediatrician after trying the above measures ...Read more
