1 Month Old Baby Coughing
I finished antibiotics for an infection but still have a lingering cough can I still be contagious? I have a one month old baby. Cough is dry tickle
Difficult to say: Difficult to answer absolutely since you don't say what the infection was or what the antibiotic was. But, with that qualification, a dry lingering cough that is more of a tickle is not so likely to be due to a lingering infection, but more likely some lingering irritation. The good news is that a 1 month old baby still has a high level of maternal antibodies in its system, so may be less succept. ...Read more
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more

My 1 month old baby has a cold he's sneezing and light cough as well as congestion is this dangerous and what can I do to make him better?
Infant colds: With such a small infant, I would have him checked by his doc. Also make sure his airway is clear, suction his nostrils with saline drops and a suction bag. Run a humidifier as well. Never give an infant this age any medication with out consulting your doctor. If he has any fever over 100.5 rectal, and you can not get in to se your doc, go to the er. ...Read more

1 month old, formula feed infant has dark green poop that smells like skunk (sometimes stringy looking)...baby is gassy as well. Is this normal?
Could be: The first thing I would want to make sure is that your child is gaining weight appropriately and thriving. If that is the case, there are numerous things that could be of help, such as different formulas. That decision can be best made with your child's doctor who will know what formula your child is and/or has been on. Good luck. ...Read more

I would stop the med immediately! ...Read more

Many things help: You can put a humidifier in the room (cool mist is best), raise the head of the crib a few inches, and a number of other things depending on what the cause is. Not recommended: In a young child, it is not recommended to give any cough or allergy medications. Using a cool humidifier and using nasal saline and a bulb suction to remove the congestion is recommended. If he is breathing rapidly or using his abdominal muscles to breathe or having difficulty breathing, he should be checked by doctor. Also any fever should be evaluated by MD. ...Read more
My one month old baby has a whooping sound without cough for 2 weeks duration, I notice that after this sound as if something irritating her throat.?
Likely a weak airway: Some infants can develop a rather worrisome breathing pattern that make a lot of noise from their rubbery airways. Some have an airway that is more rubbery than normal & make a crowing sound as they inhale & or exhale. I would have this checked out by your doc early next week. ...Read more

? colic: This may be a form of colic versus food intolerance. Both can involve lots of gas and discomfort.
