So I'm 37 weeks &1 CM dilated and halfway effaced is what doctor said last appointment. For the last two days my vagina has felt swollen& sensitive?
We expect this!: Hi Deborah, As the baby moves down in the pelvis which is what is happening slowly and gradually at this point in your pregnancy, the vaginal tissue is filling with fluid. 37 weeks pregnant just got diarrhea, already 2 1/2 CM dilated as of last week, is labor coming soon? If so how soon after diarrhea does labor start?
Unpredictable: There is no way to predict exactly how long it will be until labor, although all of these signs you mention suggest it may not be long. Good luck! ...Read moreGet help now ›
I am 37 weeks and 6 days pregnant and I am 1 CM dilated and 70% effaced. I am having a lot of pelvic and abdominal pain. Am i having contractions?
You need evaluation!: Contractions are intermittent pain and you feel fine in between. If you are having constant, significant pelvic and/or abdominal pain, you need immediate evaluation. Not tomorrow, not in 3 hours - now. You could be having bleeding under the placenta (abruption), an infection or other problems. Constant pain is not contractions, so if this pain is bad and constant, get to the l&d or er now. ...Read moreGet help now ›
Have a conversation: Patients and doctors need to have a conversation about goals of what is to be accomplished. Even though 37 weeks is considered full term, there needs to be an indication for initiating labour. At 4cm without contractions, that is still not labour. Pitocin is a drug with potential side effects. The risks and benefits need to always be weighed. ...Read moreGet help now ›
37 weeks and 4 days pregnant dilated at 2 CM and 50% thinned with excessive discharge! what should I do?
See your doctor: You are losing yourmucous plug as you are dilating. Nothing to worry about unless you are concerned that you have ruptured your membranes. See you doctor to get evaluated. ...Read moreGet help now ›
Depends!: Here are my questions: any evidence of fetal distress or low amniotic fluid volume? If not - or unless there are other reasons to induce, many doctors would sit tight and wait for labor to begin. Some babies have immature lungs at 37 weeks so waiting (or assessing lung maturity before induction) may be wise. I have seen women dilated to 5 cm for weeks before labor began! good luck. ...Read moreGet help now ›
