A 47-year-old member asked:

how can a multi-drug resistant strains of gonorrhea be treated?

Check Sensitivities: Assuming that you know it's multidrug resistant, the lab should be able to test for different antibiotics that are out of the typical treatment regimin. Treatment may require IV antibiotics or hospitalization.
Dr. Hunter Handsfield
Infectious Disease 53 years experience
Gentamicin, others: True multi-drug resistance in gonorrhea is absent in the US and Europe (so far); all gonorrhea in the US is easily treated with readily available, routinely recommended antibiotics. For gonorrhea acquired where rare MDR cases have occurred (e.g., parts of Asia including Japan, S. Korea), discuss Rx (e.g., gentamicin) with an infectious diseases specialist or your local or state health dept.

I am in a monogamous relationship, am I safe from gonorrhea?

Dr. Robert Kwok
Pediatrics 33 years experience
Maybe, maybe not: Two people in a monogamous relationship must both start out free of gonorrhea. That means "the couple" is gonorrhea-free. Then, each partner must stay monogamous in order for gonorrhea to not enter the couple's relationship by way of a third party.

Can I treat gonorrhea with home remedies?

2 doctor answers4 doctors weighed in
Dr. Robert Kwok
Pediatrics 33 years experience
None are effective: There are no effective treatments for gonorrhea except for antibiotics. A person with suspected gonorrhea should be evaluated by a doctor to check for gonorrhea and other std infections. Until the doctor's appointment, the person should avoid sexual contact with others, so not to spread the gonorrhea.
