A 28-year-old female asked:

I read that taking high doses of vitamin c decreases birth control effectiveness. i take 1060 mg of vitamin c daily and on seasonique.

Interaction: The only interaction that i can find is that Estradiol levels maybe increased. This should not decrease effectiveness.

VitaminC is safe and: No it does not have any effect on it. If you have any concern you can lower your vitamin c to 500 mg per day which is more than plenty for your daily vitamin c needs.

Way to much C!: I realize there are some who diagree, but there is little justification for more than 300mg of c from all sources. You'll have no bcp problems at this lower level (over 70% lower).
