A 36-year-old female asked:

how long does irregular bleeding last while taking progestin only birth control pills?

Should, or does?: It should only last for a month or so - but if it lasts longer, it may be difficult to stop. Some people will have to discontinue certain birth control pills due to irregular or unpredictable bleeding. A sonogram is helpful to look for other structural causes of abnormal bleeding, but progestin only pills do not do as good a job at regulating cycles as do estrogen/progestin birth control pills.

A 19-year-old female asked:

I am about 4 to 5 weeks pregnant i've been bleeding for a week already. I have no cramps nor blood clots . I went to the doctors yesturday and was told there was an egg sac but they couldn't see anything inside of it. The doctor told me I may be too early

Correct!: This early in pregnancy makes it difficult to discern whether it is a developing fetus in the egg sac or a "blighted ovum" of a possible miscarrriage. The "tincture of time" will tell the difference. Be patient as mother nature works on her own schedule.

A member asked:

What does a negative pregnancy test look like ? Are both lines dark ? I took the equate one from walmart (walmart brand) and I was curious if it was a false negative or if it was too early my period isnt due for another 2 weeks

It depends: Each test is different. Most tests show two bars as positive. The package will tell you the best time to take a test. Typically mid void first thing in the morning. The closer to the time of expected next period is best.
