PLANB: Initially a back up form of birth control should be used. 2 days of oral contraceptives is not likely to provide adequate protection from pregnancy.

A 22-year-old female asked:
I had unprotected sex and he came inside me after taking the first dose of the Plan B and starting birth control the previous day im i safe!?

Plan B: In most cases Plan B works. But, none of us can tell you that you are safe. You are the one that chose to not use barrier protection when your birth control could not possibly be working yet. But, in general you can rely upon the emergency contraception to work for that sexual event. What you cannot predict now is when your birth control will be effective and may need to use barrier protection.
