Wanted to skip my period on birth control, so i took one active pill instead of starting sugar pills on ortho tri cyclen. i had horrible cramps so i stopped the next day to get period and got period two days later. am i protected if i start the new pack a

Yes: That 1 pill should not change the contraceptive effects. The level of protection does not drop when the new pack of pills is started. If wanting to skip a withdrawal bleeding period once in a while, one can try doing it again in the future (skipping the sugar pills and going directly to a new pack) and/or talk with her doctor to see if another brand or type of pill would be better for that goal.
