No: Cold sores on or near the lips are usually caused by herpes type 1 virus. Most people get them not through sex, so they are not considered an STD. However, they can be transmitted through sexual activity. Genital herpes is usually caused by herpes type 2. Through oral sexual activities, she can get oral herpes 1 sores on her genitals if she has never had herpes 1. One's doctor can help solve this.

Herpes: I do not believe so. The virus would need a open sore, crack or cut to enter the body. Could a herpes virus live on food and then brush over a open sore on someone else say for instance sharing a bite on a utensil? Yes , i believe it could be transferred.

Waxs young, wanes old: Libido "waxes"(pre-menopausally) with lubrication and desire and "wanes" post-menopausally due to a decline of testosterone which comprises 2% of women's natural hormones. Some women never notice any changes in libido as the adrenal glands are the main sources of their testosterone rather than the declining ovary post-menopausally.
