Be wise in restrooms: It is unlikely to catch anything in a restroom except for diarrheal diseases, and perhaps contagious flu-like illnesses, because poop gets onto surfaces throughout restrooms, and flu-like illnesses are also transmissible via surfaces such as door handles. Act wisely in restrooms.

No, ancient myth: Throughout modern medical history, once it was known that STDs are infections transmitted from partners, there have been rumors and stories about infections caught from toilet seats, shared clothing or towels, and so on. It's an urban myth and always was, used by patients (and in past years, some doctors) to explain away some infections in people who seemed to be at low risk. It never happens.
