A 26-year-old female asked:

igg <0.9 & igm 1.5+ hsv.also, in the absence of clinical symptoms, it probably indicates an unspecific reaction of the igm (eia) test. what's it mean?

More likely: That this is a false positive (test positive but disease not present) than an acute infection.

A member asked:

Will my son's strange reaction following antibiotics last.

Dr. Irwin Berkowitz

Yes: Allergic reactions to antibiotics, ie hives can last up to two weeks after stopping the medication. Antibiotic induced diarrhea can improve soon after discontinuing the antibiotics or linger. There are other nonspecific rashes that are not an allergy but an interaction between the antibiotic and a virus that can last for days. Behavioral reactions to colorings or flavors abate qickly.

Herpes: I do not believe so. The virus would need a open sore, crack or cut to enter the body. Could a herpes virus live on food and then brush over a open sore on someone else say for instance sharing a bite on a utensil? Yes , i believe it could be transferred.

Allergy symptom vary: Allergic reactions can vary from minimally annoying to fatal. If your housemate has more than mild nasal, eye, or skin symptoms i would suggest seeing a board certified allergist to define and appropriately treat the allergies.

Duration?: Local pain, itching, and redness of the skin are typical after a mosquito bite. There is usually an immediate wheal and flare response that peaks at about 20 minutes, or a hard, itchy, bump that peaks at two to three days and resolves over the ensuing days to weeks.
Dr. Harold Peltan

Agree. And don't scratch it. It will take longer to resolve.

I think I may have oral herpes -- can it be spread to my bf's genitals?

Herpes spread: Absolutely, that is how it is spread. If you have a active lesion and the virus enters through his skin or tissue he will be infected. Be open and honest with him and he will respect and love you for this.
