Can you catch a std from a co-worker that has one

Depends on contact: Sexually transmitted diseases (stds) can only be transmitted through direct contact. Just sitting in cubicle next to your co-worker will not put you at risk. Physical contact to a lesion (herpes, chancre, etc.) can lead to an infection. Obviously, sexual contact is included in the description of physical contact.

Only through sex: You could only catch an std from your coworker if you have sex with them. Stds can not be passed from casual contact. Some STDs are passed from fluid transmission from one to another. Others are passed via skin to skin contact.
Dr. Slade Suchecki

Rare: It is rare without having intercourse. Usually some exchange of fluids. There was a court case of transmission from a pen to another's eye.
