Is tubal ligation safe? What are the side effects?

Yes in the right: Hands, assuming you have a good dcotor it is usually safe, I do tubals in the office by the essure method which is much easier and safer than having a laparoscopic or robotic tubal or a minilap tubal, u can go online and read about all the methods , anyone can have a complication but if done properly the risk of a problem or se is low, in my opinion essure is the safest and easiest and least pain!

What are the side effects of a tubal ligation?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Miguel Cano
Obstetrics and Gynecology 30 years experience
None: Following a tubal ligation you should have no side effects. Once your anesthetic wears off, you should feel fine. However, many patients complain of irregular or painful cycles, hormonal based symptoms (pmdd/pms), or ovulation pain: symptoms that were controlled nicely with their prior birth control. Many women take hormonal birth control to control these sx, so talk to your doc if this is you.

No time: A tubal sterilization procedure has a certain failure rate so there is never a guarantee that it will not fail. Usually it doesn't.
