Can unprotected sex between two virgins cause stds?

Dr. Michael Sinclair answered

No : By definition, STDs are sexually transmitted diseases. By definition, virgins have not had sex yet. Assuming neither virgin got an std from rape or from birth, then neither virgin has any std to pass to the other virgin.

How do people have so much unprotected sex without getting stds?

Dr. Walter Evans II answered

they don't.: Many people get stds. There is not a 100% transmission rate and it sometimes takes more than 1 exposure. Still, much better to be careful. Many people are not truthful about their status. Sex is not worth dying for.

A 21-year-old female asked:
I got tested exactly 1 week for STDs after unprotected sex. Will my tests be accurate? Got tested for everything
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in

Dr. Martin Raff answered
Infectious Disease 56 years experience
STD: Yes, the tests are accurate, but may need to be repeated, particularly if you are concerned about HIV, syphilis, and so on. Without knowing what tests were run it is difficult to comment on your particular situation, but please see a doctor familiar with the evaluation of STDs. Best wishes for a successful outcome.

A 18-year-old female asked:
Is it too late to get tested and cured for STD's if the act of unprotected sex happened almost six months ago?
2 doctor answers • 3 doctors weighed in

Dr. Lynne Weixel answered
Clinical Psychology 36 years experience
Better late than not: You can and should get tested. Some STDs can only be treated, not cured anyway. Definitely you can prevent spreading any STD by learning and using safe sex info and condoms. I'm glad you've realized that it's important - that's a great thing and can never be too late! Thanks!
