Absolutely yes: Herpes is easily transmitted via oral sex. Most other sexually transmitted diseases can also be obtained through oral sex. Saliva is somewhat protective, but not perfect. Having oral or dental issues such as inflamed gums or bad teeth can make you even more likely to transmit or get a disease.
