Let's see?: Masturbation, though a normal physiologic practice, can have disadvantages. If done to excess, it can have social implications, it can affect sexual relations with male or female partners, it can cause local trauma to the genital tract, it can affect one socially, mentally and can lead to isolation. If done in a healthy manner, it can be a wonderful enjoyment and sexual pleasure.

Shame and guilt: Above and beyond any other possible disadvantage. My dog rubs herself and the main disadvantage is her owner gets embarrassed especially when guests are over. Sexual topics tend to be taboo in many cultures. We are not supposed to engage in sexual "perversions" and yet they are commonly practiced. Generally harmless when well-hidden, not publicly exposed.

Clarify: As teens, it teaches us about our bodies, helps us stay focused on other things we must do, and lets us stay in control for the sake, perhaps, of that one special person with whom we will share our lives. Masturbating won't enlarge your circle of friends and a few people try to frighten teens to control them. Your physician, pastor, coach or even parents might be able to share insights. Good luck.

Extra?: I'm guessing that your question is, "can I do this too often?" the average male teen probably enjoys his body at least once on most days. If you're obsessed with erotica and missing appointments, work, study, and friendship time, get with your personal physician -- a short course of psychotherapy and/or a low-dose rx can help. Otherwise, enjoy yourself and your new adult body.

Masturbation: Madturbation is a common practice and there is no set limit on how often is too much. An advantage might be stress relief. A disadvantage would be if it were to interfere with your daily life and activities that might be too often. Additionally if you were to cause trauma to your genitalia with masturbation that too would be a disadvantage.
