Great Q for Neuro: I assume that someone with intense hip/thigh pain or possible sciatica would have notified a local doctor. This sounds like a good question for neurologist to answer also.

A pinched nerve!: An irritated or "pinched" nerve in the low back can cause pain radiating into the buttock and lower extremity. I recommend rest and anti-inflammatory medications. If there is progressive pain, numbness, weakness, or difficulty with walking or bowel/bladder function, you should seek medical attention.
