The one you will use: The best type of birth control is one that you will consistently and comfortably use. You have to balance convenience (how easy is it to use), efficacy (how well it works), and our preferences. Ask for information on all types of birth control and keep an open mind about different forms.
A 48-year-old member asked:

What is the most effective type of birth control?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Adam Newman

You won't like this: Abstinence...Of course. Beyond that, Mirena (levonorgestrel) or Implanon are extremely effective, have little or no drug-drug interactions, and you can't forget them. Surgical sterilization is also very effective, but obviously requires surgery and it's risks. Talk to your obgyn for more details.
