Not recommended: Hi. A single IM injection of ceftriaxone and a single oral dose of azithromycin are what is currently recommended. Ciprofloxacin is not a recommended treatment. If your doc prescribed ciprofloxacin, please see an infectious disease specialist to get adequate treatment. Your partner(s) should also be tested and treated. Good luck!

QRNG: Fluoroquinolones including Cipo should not be used as a treatment option for uncomplicated urogenital gonorrhea, unless local resistance patterns are known. Treatment must also include Chlamydia trachomatis, Optimal treatment option is Ceftriaxone 250 mg intramuscular in a single dose for treatment of gonococcal infection plus Azithromycin 1 gram in a single oral dose.
