A 18-year-old female asked:
If a girl has to go to the gynecologists for the first time, she's 18, can they tell if she was sexual abused and raped? do they have to report it?

No: Sexual abuse and rape needs to be reported. One must see the gynecologist right away to detect the changes caused by rape or sexual abuse. Sometimes, child sexual abuse like genital mutilation can be detected anytime. Anyway, one should not suffer in silence in this day and age. Everyone must be treated with respect. It is time to break your silence. Your doctor will help guide you.
