I have a vaginal hsv1 outbreak for the first time ever. does that mean i just recently contacted herpes? or could i have had it for a while now?

First HSV outbreak : Genital herpes is usually caused by HSV 2, although the "cold sore virus" HSV-1 can be transmitted with oral sex. The first outbreak of herpes is just that- so u did not have it before. It's possible your partner never knew they had it because most people don't have symptoms. You must have picked it up about 4 days ago from onset of rash (range 2 - 12 days). Hope this helps. Feel better!
