Blisters: Genital herpes is associated with a cluster of blisters that show in the genital area that eventually burst, releasing the virus and causing some pain, tenderness and redness at the site of the outbreak. The out break will occur at the same site each time for the rest of the persons life. It is not curable because it is a virus. Medicines are available to help with the symptoms.

Yes: There are multiple different types of infections that can cause a genital rash. Some are easily treated and some are more difficult. There can also be some inflammatory conditions that can cause a rash "down there." some precancerous or cancers can cause rash-looking changes. You need to see your doctor to be evaluated.
A 41-year-old member asked:

What can cause genital herpes without having any type of sexual contact?

Dr. David Kurss

Any Direct Contact: Genital herpes is essentially spread by direct contact with an infectious area. It is very common and easy spread. Genital herpes can be spread even if you or your partner don't see any sores - orally or genitally. Valtrex (valacyclovir) has been shown to reduce, not eliminate the risk for asymptomatic transmission. Condoms can help but contact outside of the condom covered areas can result in infection.
