Very simply NO ....: Please... Do not listen to all these commercials u see or hear.. They are just that. For 'commercial' purpose... There is no scientifically proven data that shows any toothpaste can disolve o remove tartarbuild up... They need to be scaled ad removed profesionally, followef by routime home cleaning by u, on daily basis...

Calculus: Calculus is a buildup of hardened bacterial colonies that need to be manually scraped and scaled off of the tooth surface. This is accomplished by your dentist and/or hygienist. Use a tartar control toothpaste to keep your teeth clean between regularly scheduled dental cleaning visits. So to answer your question, unfortunately no.

Professional: If your question is to see if brushing with "tartar control" toothpaste can substitute professional hygiene scaling and/or root planning, the answer is no. Improving your overall homecare and oral health may decrease the number of perio maintenance recalls per year, but never eliminate the need for professional cleanings, we all build up plaque, calculus, etc to some degree.
