Sugar: Cola syrup is concentrated sugar with some flavorings. What are you using this for in such high amounts that it can effect your mouth? The heavy sugar can cause tooth decay but is not a cause of dry mouth. Most of the times dry mouth is caused by medications that you are taking. Of course: Anything with artificial sugar or natural sugar may cause the dry mouth. If you have a chronically dry mouth, it might be a good idea to get your doctor to check your average levels of blood glucose (A1C).

Hydrate: Drink plenty of fluids but avoid caffeinated drinks that may actually dehydrate you . Check with your doctor about medications you take that may dehydrate you . Consider sucking on sugarless losenges if needed. See your doctor if dry mouth persists.

Investigate: Many possible causes. Some need medical management. Anxiety and sjogrens syndrome are two causes that come to mind. Symptomatic treatment for your comfort could include artificial saliva or even lemon drop candies. But these should be considered after medical causes are eliminated or better understood. Gum, hard candy: In addition we used to make up a very dilute Pilocarpine solution to swish around in your mouth.

No Candy !: First be sure it's the add med causing the problem. Then ask your md if it can be changed to one that is less drying. Third, use only products that are sugar free. Search google for xylitol candy and other products. Xylitol is a sweetener that does not cause tooth decay and in fact helps prevent it. That is the biggest problem with dry mouths.
