Type of headache?: Typically when patients wake up with peri-orbital "headaches" with red eyes, a sinus congestion/allergy type of reaction is probably responsible. This is of course if there are no other neurologic or ophthalmic symptoms. Headache evaluation takes us a a short amount of time but there are a dozen questions we ask to delineate the cause, so it is best to consult your pcp for evaluation.
