Who diagnosed?: If a doctor diagnosed L4 nerve damage, then s/he hopefully addressed the worrisome symptoms like refractory pain, progressive weakness or loss of function as well as loss of sphincter control.

Can nerve damage heal?

Dr. Aileen Shieu answered
Hand Surgery 20 years experience
Yes: If the damage does not cause the nerve to be completely cut, then healing can occur. If a nerve has been cut, it will need to be reconnected in order to grow. Nerve grows about 1 mm/day, so depending on where the injury is, it may take over a year for recovery. It is difficult after a nerve is cut to get 100% recovery, but some return of sensation can be expected after repair.

Does it take a long time for vats-related nerve damage to heal?

Dr. Aaron Milstone answered
Pulmonology 27 years experience
Yes: If the nerve damage is to skin and muscle the nerve may take a long time to regrow. Sometimes numbeness or neuropathic (nerve related) pain may take 6-12 months to go away completely. The good news is that there are a lot of new medications to help with pain control after vats.

What essential oil can be used for the nervous system or nerve damage?
3 doctor answers • 6 doctors weighed in

Dr. Pedro Hernandez answered
Geriatrics 40 years experience
? Vit b12, Cod liver: The nervous system has a limited change to recover from nervous death or sick cells. Vitamin b 12 and fish oil, omega 3 ( oil from cod liver) have been recommended but reconstruction of nerve cells can be achieved only by stem cell transplant and ordering the brain to repair the affected area ( physical therapy). Check what other drs. Have to say.
