What type of fibromatosis grows on top of the foot?

Possible desmoid?: Most fibromatoses of the foot occurs on the bottom (plantar) surface. There is a type of benign tumor that is very invasive called a desmoid fibromatosis or desmoid tumor. I would be concerned that a lump on the top (dorsal) surface of the foot could be this, which is aggressive. A ganglion cyst is another possibility. See a doctor for possible imaging and biopsy.

Sweating, fungus: It could be only sweaty feet or it could be the start of athletes foot or a case of eczema. If there is no visible rash, wear cotton socks and try ab sorbent foot powder labelled af for antifungal.

What do physicians do with the foot after it is amputated?
2 doctor answers • 5 doctors weighed in
Vascular Surgery 23 years experience
Pathology: Most hospitals have a policy that the amputated tissues be sent to pathology for evaluation. In the setting of an infection, cultures may be taken. In the setting of other disease, tissues may be evaluated by the pathologist to look at the blood vessels, for example in buerger's disease. After being evaluated amputated limbs are disposed of as "medical waste" which is typically incinerated.

I slipped and fell on my foot last night and it curled and twisted under me .Is it worth a trip to the e.R?

Let pain guide you: If you twisted your ankle and it has minimal pain and swelling, you just need to be ginger with it until the ligaments heal. If the pain is on a bone and not in the soft tissues below the ankle, it may require an xray. Your description of your injury is likely a sprain, not requiring an er visit. Rest, ice, compression. Elevation.
Ibuprofen for good measure if painful.
