That's 1 possibility: A cold sore is a lesion with blisters (lip, chin, cheek, nostril & sometimes mouth) which causes burning, pain & itching. It breaks open & releases fluid that is teaming with the herpes simplex type 1 virus. Your dermatologist can tell you for sure.
